Why Feeling Good in Your Body Shouldn’t Feel Unusual

Reflections on body image, lingerie, self-esteem, and how women relate to their bodies.

There is something Ive realized that I cant unsee.

In many European cultures, buying intimate wear or lingerie for yourself is not a question. It is understood. A woman does not need permission to feel good in her body. She does not need to justify why something soft, beautiful, or sensual belongs to her. It simply does.

And here, that same experience feels rare. Almost uncomfortable.

Through my clinical training, I heard the same patterns over and over again. Low self-esteem. Disconnection. A quiet belief that feeling good in your own body had to be earned, explained, or minimized.

That stayed with me.

Because I grew up with something very different. An understanding that being a woman was already enough. That there was something inherently valuable, powerful, and even magical about simply existing in a female body.

And what I see now, both in the world and inside our Evanston space, is how far many women have been pulled away from that.

Owning something as simple as intimate wear for yourself should not feel complicated. It should not feel indulgent or unnecessary.

It should feel obvious.

And yet, for so many women, it doesnt.

That is where this begins.

A Different Way to Experience Your Body

If this resonates, the shift is not just conceptual. It is physical.

At Bella Otér, we offer what we call a Body Reset. A 30-minute guided experience designed to help you reconnect with your body through intimate wear, fabric, and sensation. Not through judgment, but through awareness.

This can take place in-store in Evanston or virtually as a private consultation, depending on what feels most supportive for you.

It is not about finding something that looks right.
It is about noticing what actually feels right.

This experience is offered at $35, as a dedicated space to slow down, reconnect, and experience your body in a new way.
